1. What are the solar interconnection policies for Batavia?

2. How do I apply for a permit to install solar panels?

Begin by reviewing the Solar Photovoltaic PV System  Permit Application Checklist (PDF). The checklist is intended to help applicants understand the requirements for project permits. 

After reviewing the checklist, and completing a Building Permit Application (PDF), contact the Batavia Building Department at 630-454-2700 to discuss your project and permits.

3. What are the timelines for review and approval?

Our review process is extensive to ensure public safety. Therefore, review and approval take up to 6-8 weeks.

4. Do you require homeowner's insurance and what are the limits of liability needed?

Homeowners need to add the city as an additional insured.  Limits are not defined.

5. How do I see the solar credit on my utility bill?

The solar service will appear on your utility bill as a service line item. The City of Batavia measures only the kWh used and the kWh received back.  The City does not measure entire solar output.

6. Are there rebates for solar power systems?

The City of Batavia does not have a solar rebate program.
