Title: Ward 3 City Council Member
Phone: 630-803-9525

Dan Chanzit is a 1994 graduate of Batavia High School, having moved to Batavia from Winfield with his family in 1986.  After attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dan worked as a journalist for 10 years at publications including the Windmill News, Aurora Beacon-News, Gannett New Jersey and the Kane County Chronicle.  He has been in the banking industry for the last 10 years, including work as a licensed banker and sales manager at Chase.  He is currently a retail banking manager at MB Financial.

Dan’s volunteerism has included working for the American Cancer Society, WTTW Channel 11 and the Three Fires Council of the Boy Scouts, where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout.  He is also on the Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry Board of Directors.

“As a reporter I was always fascinated by all aspects of municipal government.  Now that I'm serving on council (instead of covering the meetings for the newspaper), I love being an advocate for my neighbors.  I see the bigger picture, and I realize that I'm making decisions for my neighbors as well as those who will live here in 50 or 100 years.”

Originally appointed to the city council by the mayor in May 2010, Dan was first elected in April 2011.
