Map showing proposed tif 7 boundaries

The City of Batavia is reviewing a proposed Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District, known as Batavia TIF #7, as part of its ongoing efforts to support reinvestment and economic vitality in the community. The review will evaluate whether establishing a TIF district is an appropriate tool for the area and whether the proposed area meets eligibility requirements under Illinois law.

The proposed Redevelopment Project Area generally includes property south of Wilson Street, north of Union Avenue, west of South River Street, and east of South Lincoln Street. As part of the evaluation, the City is preparing draft Eligibility Study and Redevelopment Plan to assess existing conditions, redevelopment challenges, and opportunities within the proposed area. A map outlining of the proposed boundaries is included in the draft materials.

As required by law, the City will host the following meets to gather input and share information:

  • Joint Review Board Meeting: 10 a.m. March 2

  • Public Hearing: 7 p.m., April 6

Both meetings will take place in the City Council Chambers, t 100 N. Island Avenue, Batavia, Illinois. These meetings provide an opportunity for taxing districts, residents, property owners, and other interested parties to learn more about the proposal and offer public comment. Required notices will be distributed in advance.
