Residents in the Woodland Hills area may notice line clearance tree trimming work beginning Tuesday, May 19.
Contract crews from Townsend will be working in the area for approximately one month to trim trees around power lines. Crews typically use orange-and-white bucket trucks and wood chippers.
Some work will require access to rear utility easements located in backyards. Crews will make every effort to contact residents before entering private property.
Thank you for your cooperation as this important maintenance work helps improve electric system reliability and safety.

🚧 Have questions about the future of Fabyan Parkway? Kane County Division of Transportation (KDOT) is inviting residents to a Public Information Meeting about proposed transportation improvements along Fabyan Parkway between IL Route 25 and IL Route 31.
The project focuses on the heavily traveled Fabyan Parkway/ Rt. 31 intersection, where the angled roadway alignment has contributed to congestion and a high number of turning and rear-end crashes. Proposed improvements aim to improve safety, traffic flow, and intersection capacity, while also considering bicycle and pedestrian accommodations, the Fox River bridge, nearby trails, and the Rt. 25 intersection.

The Batavia Fire Department is proud to recognize two outstanding members as Co-Firefighters of the Year at Monday’s City Council meeting.
Fire Chief Craig Hanson honored Jacob Canada and Daniel Johnston, recipients selected by their peers for their exceptional service, leadership, and dedication.
Jacob Canada consistently demonstrates courage, professionalism, and a commitment to growth. Known for taking initiative on every call, mentoring fellow firefighters, and continually working to improve his skills, Jacob exemplifies what it means to serve. His leadership and selfless service have earned him the prestigious Battalion Chief Randy Zies Firefighter of the Year Award.
Daniel Johnston’s journey with the department reflects deep dedication from paid-on-call firefighter to paramedic to full-time firefighter/paramedic. His leadership was critical during a chaotic active shooter incident, where he helped ensure the safety of both his crew and multiple patients and civilians. Dan’s determination and commitment to others have also earned him the Battalion Chief Randy Zies Firefighter of the Year Award.
Please join us in congratulating both Jacob and Daniel for this well-deserved honor and for their continued service to the Batavia community.

• Firefighters are expected to be en route to an incident within two minutes of dispatch.
• The department has specialized teams for water rescue, technical rescue, and fire investigation.
• Batavia Fire Department's longes serving firefighter, Ron Konen, retired this year after serving 49 years!
• Firefighters spend at least a third of the year at the station, so it truly becomes a second home. They even chip in for meals and eat together like family.
