The Batavia Police Department has completed a traffic crash assessment of the Randall Road corridor following two fatal crashes in February and March 2026.

The review analyzed data from 2019 through early 2026 and found 767 crashes occurred along Randall Road — about 16% of all crashes citywide. While overall crash trends are consistent with historical averages, the leading causes of injury crashes were failure to yield, speeding, and other driver-related behaviors such as distraction and improper lane use.

From January through March 26, 2026, officers conducted 695 traffic stops in the area, accounting for roughly one-third of all traffic stops citywide.

Based on the findings, the City will focus on targeted enforcement, public education on safe driving behaviors, and reviewing traffic signal timing in coordination with transportation engineers. Ongoing monitoring will help identify trends and guide future safety improvements.
